PRINCE OF PEACE

So yesterday we were discussing how the enemy loves to stir unrest inside of us. So naturally a big part of Satan’s business involves stirring up turmoil in our HEARTS. We learnt last week how important the protection of our heart is. Today we are going to start a strategy against the enemy.

What he loves doing is to stir the pot with our sins or our past sins. If you have been a victim of abuse or injustice the enemy will use those as coattails to keep the pot boiling. What may start with low-lying anger, can be overturned into unforgiveness which then turns into bitterness and resentment. Then when these strongholds are securely in place, you are much more likely to build an emotional wall that can even keep people with good intentions from  entering into your heart.  You become defensive, and unable to have peace in any relationship.

One way or another he will always steal your joy in every relationship you find yourself in.

STEP 1 – List the following areas you detect disharmony, unrest or lack of peace.

  • Your mind…
  • Your heart…
  • Your body…
  • Between you and a friend…
  • Between you and your child…
  • Between you and your spouse…
  • Between you and your co-worker…
  • Other…

STEP 2 – How have you handled the above situation? Write down how you handled each situation in your Prayer Journal.

We can’t always control the ground we walk on, we might get a warning at work. We might even get bad news from a doctor. We may get an upsetting message from a friend. We might have lost a loved one. None of these things are easy to deal with, but with the right kind of shoes you can be protected. I love this scripture so much… “The peace of God surpasses all understanding”. We might not always understand the Why, but the PEACE of God will fill our hearts and we will never cry without hope.

Shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, means harmony, health and wholeness in the midst of chaos. In fact true peace is best detected against the backdrop of confusion. When instability arises, yet you stand steadfast. When confusion and disappointment is near yet you are still capable to walk with the shoes of peace.

That is how you know your feet are fitted for the Father’s shoes – peace beyond comprehension.

Day 23 Mental Health Tip

You find peace not by rearranging your circumstances, but by realising that peace surpasses all understanding.
