As I grew up I watched my mom grow spiritually, I call her my prayer warrior. She is radiant with the power of God. Overwhelmed with his joy and consumed with his peace. Not just occasionally, but always. She has a testimony of her own, I believe the word is alive to her, because God is alive in her.
Maybe you know one or two women like this yourself, she will pray and then believe. Expect and then see. Ask and then receive. She was not easily discouraged even when our father decided after 36 years of marriage that he wants to be young again (ai toggie). Bought himself a Golf 6 (black) and off he went with his young girlfriend. But my mom, was not easily discouraged or paralyzed by fear and insecurities, and she had a long laundry list of very practical experiences with God to prove it.
So when I asked my mom, during the time she cared for him on his sick bed after being divorced for 15 years, “how do you find it in your heart to show daddy the same amount of love after ALL he put you through?” The secret she shared with me that day, while I watched her wash him gently in hospital, she looked at his green eyes and summed her story up in one tiny but very critical, powerful word – FAITH. And he gave that naughty smile, and said to her. You were my 1st love now, you are my last.
STEP 1 – How would you describe the difference between belief and faith? In your own words. Write this down in your Prayer Journal.
Generally what do you think is the biggest hindrances to acting in faith?
Lets look at Daniel 6: 7-10 and 16 -23… read carefully.
STEP 2 – How did Daniel demonstrate confidence in God? Write this down in your Prayer Journal.
STEP 3 – How was Daniel protected as a result of his faith? Write this down in your Prayer Journal.
Even when my father was unfaithful towards my mother, God was faithful towards her. Because of her trust and faith in God I witnessed his protection over her life. He protected her health against sexual immorality and so much more. Faith is one of the most overused, but yet underutilized expressions in many circles. Because, really talking about faith is not the same as having it. Its very plain and simple to me. Faith is an ACTION. And this is the secret my mom shared with me that day in hospital.
Faith without works is useless… For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 2:20 – 26.
No matter how fearful, intimidating my mom’s circumstances were, she took up her shield of faith. NO matter how life altering her situation was, her commitment to quickly engage this peace of Armor, she said was the key that kept her from falling apart after the enemy’s attack on her marriage. She told me it certainly wasn’t easy, after 2 strokes she learned the only way to survive this life changing experience is to trust his promises.
She said “Claudia my kind, be a women of faith, not just a woman who talks faith – and you will never regret it.”
Day 29 Mental Health Tip
Surrender to what is, let go of what was, have Faith in what will be.
