PRAY LIKE A HERO
We are living in very difficult times. There is so much pain, suffering and heartbreak on the earth today – and at the same time so much opportunity to bring change and be part of the solution. We are part of an epic battle, one we need to be prepared for. This is not the time to withdraw, this is the time we learn how to pray.
P – Praise: First let’s give God gratitude for who He is and what He has already done. For example, let us acknowledge that He is BIG, He is sovereign, He is almighty, He is the reason we live. Then let us praise him for what He has already done in our lives. Because of Him I opened my eyes. Because of Him, I am where I am today. Because, ultimately, his name and his fame are the only reason any of this matters.
R – Repentance: Expect prayer to expose where you are still resisting Him. Not only resisting His commands, but the manifold of blessings and benefits He gives to those who follow Him. Line your strategies with repentance, the courage to trust, and turn, and walk His way.
Make your request known. Be personal and specific. Write down details of your own issues and difficulties as they relate to the broader issue we discussed in the weeks of study, as well as how you see the enemy’s hand at work in them, or where you suspect he might be aiming next.
Y – YES: The bible says “All of God’s promises, have been filled in Christ with a resounding YES!” ( 2 Corinthians 1:20). You may not understand everything that is happening in your life right now, but any possible explanation pales in comparison to what you know, because of your faith in God’s goodness and assurances. So allow your prayer to be accentuated with his own words from scriptures. His promises to you that correspond to your need. There is nothing more powerful than praying God’s own word. Because even at the mention of His name, the enemy buckles in certain defeat.
