Obedience is not an automatic impulse, but it’s a learned behaviour. The bible teaches me that Jesus himself had to learn obedience. So please don’t be too hard on yourself.
STEP 1 – Go to the book of Hebrews and write down the scripture in your Prayer Journal.
Once we decide to make obedience a priority, it will develop easier on a daily basis. To put it bluntly, the reason most of us don’t obey God is because we have no intention of obeying God. What needs to happen is that we need to make a mental shift to decide, “I am going to live according to God’s mandate”. You will never obey consistently without intending to obey God. If you are going to obey God, you need to trust his word and his promises to give you your best life.
We need to develop a “God is here” mindset.
STEP 2 – Go to Psalm 16:8 and copy the scripture in the bible and write it down in your Prayer Journal, in your own words, the meaning of this scripture.
We always need a way to be reminded of God’s presence in our life. In his presence there is fullness of JOY!!! Aaaah I love this… I feel like going into praise and worship right now. Because, I know what a beautiful fragrance God’s presence is. David was a man after God’s heart, although he suffered relapses in his relationship with the Lord, the general direction of his life was towards God rather than away from God. David understood the importance, and developed a system for regularly keeping God in the forefront of his thinking.
I will confess, some mornings, more than I wish to admit, that my morning rituals and daily readings of God’s word tastes more like rubber eggs than “a dripping of honeycomb” like David described. But as rubbery as the experience may feel, reading God’s word that morning, at least it reminds me that there is a God in whom we live, move and have existence.
